We plan for regular times of reflection or find that account in arrears.  Without this habit, we lose the freshness of impressions and experiences needed for tomorrow, perhaps as help to another.  What are we reflecting, what are others seeing, us being reflectors?

Christ Jesus didn’t think so much of Himself that He had to cling to the advantages of His deity.  “When the time came, He set aside the privileges of deity and took on the status of a slave, became human!  It was an incredibly humbling process.  He didn’t claim special privileges.  Instead, He lived a selfless, obedient life and then died a selfless, obedient death—and the worst kind of death—crucifixion.”  And yet, He returned to Heaven to reign today.  Jesus commands us to let our light shine, reflecting Him, the Light of the world.  “You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world.  God is not a secret to be kept.  I’m putting you on a light stand—shine!  Keep open house; be generous with your lives.  By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God.”

Father, I confess in reflection I’ve broadcasted a tainted view of You, mixed with too much of me.  Grant courage to allow Your Spirit free rein, to represent You, Your open Light of love and life.

A suntan testifies you have been in the sun.  Our time with Jesus should testify we are Son-tanned, and that our “tan’ is visible, even reflective, as was Moses, “his face glowed because he had been speaking with God.”  A reflection.  So reflect the light and life of Jesus, His power, His wisdom, His humility His love, His openness.

Philippians 2:5-8, Matthew 5:16, John 8:12, Exodus 34:29 MSG
