““Did you call me?”  Then Eli realized it was the LORD who was calling the boy.  So he said to Samuel, “Go and lie down again, and if someone calls again, say, ‘Speak, LORD, your servant is listening.’”  So Samuel went back to bed.  And the LORD came and called as before, “Samuel! Samuel!”  And Samuel replied, “Speak, Your servant is listening.””
God said to another in their youth, “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb.  Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.”  And anther said, “This is what the glory of the LORD looked like to me.  When I saw it, I fell face down on the ground, and I heard someone’s voice speaking to me.”
Yet another “Fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul! Saul! Why are you persecuting Me?”  “Who are you, Lord?”  Saul asked.  And the voice replied, “I am Jesus, the one you are persecuting!  Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.””  Jesus had also spoken, “My sheep listen to My voice; I know them, and they follow Me.”  You speakin’ to me?
Father, thank You for Your messaging, from one page to another, centuries apart and yet the same, speaking to me, speaking to us, words of truth, power, and comfort; direction and hope, beginning with love and forgiveness.   May our response always be, “speak, Your servant-child is listening.”
