Evidence and Reasons for the Christian Faith
"It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, it is the glory of Kings to search out a matter." Proverbs 25:2
"Truly you are a God who hides Himself." Isaiah 45:15
"The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field." Matthew 13:44
God hides Himself and evidence that He is real so that those who truly seek Him will be able to find Him if they truly want Him, but His hiddenness also makes it easy for those who do not desire Him to close their eyes to the truth. As Jesus said, "Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few." (Matthew 7:13)
So if God Hides the Kingdom of Heaven is like hidden treasures in a field, then you need grace and determination to find Him and His Kingdom.
The Evidence and Reasons ministry provides evidence for the Christian God for those willing to seek it and build their faith by studying the works of God. Jesus said, " even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.” (John 10:38). The Evidence and Reasons Ministry provides evidence of the works of God so that Christians can build their faith and trust in the Christian God.
Evidence is provided in the following areas:
- Science: There is strong evidence the universe and life were created through a series of miracles and NOT through natural nor Darwin's supposed evolutionary processes (Romans 1:18-20). Further, there is credible evidence for Noah's flood. The study of cellular biology, chemistry, and physics has brought many people to faith.
- Archaeology: the Bible unlike any other religion makes bold claims about people, places, and events. There is abundant archaeological and historical evidence that these claims are real, therefore study of archaeology and history has brought many people like archaeologist Sir William Mitchell Ramsey to faith, and many others like James Warner Wallace, Lee Strobel, Josh McDowell.
- Christian Testimony: the great things Jesus has done in the lives of people through miracles and answered prayer has been a source of faith an reassurance to many that Jesus is real. (2 Corinthians 3:2-3) Examples are too numerous to list!
- Cultural Commentary: the story of the prodigal son (Luke 15:11-32) can also be extrapolated to described the damaging effects of non-Christian world views and it's negative effects on civilization vs the positive effect of the Christian world view. One can learn this through the writings of Francis Schaeffer, Tom Holland, Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, Whittaker Chambers, Peter Hithchens.
- Weighing your Options: John 6:68, 1 Corinthians 15:32
