An admirable slogan from our US Army! Be all you can be; and at the end of this first quarter of this new year! Is there any limit? Are there any barriers? Any impossibilities? How do be all we can be to go beyond ourselves, other than to harness (discipline) ourselves and hitch to that which is beyond, which includes our hopes and dreams.
Jesus tells us today to go beyond being all you can be by remaining in Him. “Remain in Me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruit-full unless you remain in Me.” In fact, doing so takes us in this direction, counter to what we’re so often told. “He, Jesus, must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less,” as John the Baptist was so convicted.
To be all you can be, remain in Him, Jesus, more and more, all-sufficient, Who brings His power under His Father’s design for you. Father, draw us to Your Son and Your way, trusting You more and more, which is Your plan of adoption, sharing Your holiness.
