Detox is a serious treatment, a procedure normally to reverse intakes and habits. Interestingly, it’s not just about medications, but also mental habits and hangups. But how do we go about detoxing these?
“Jesus now called the Twelve and gave them authority and power to deal with all the demons and cure diseases.” Meanwhile, we continue to work with budgets and bandaids, living the dream, or at least alluding to it. But I wonder, as they were told to share God’s kingdom with the whoever’s they crossed paths with, healing and dealing with demons and diseases. What about us? Are not our normal reasonings more aligned with the whispers of demons and the distractions of diseases and malevolence and meanness between our smiles and cares?
Jesus commissioned them to preach, to share, broadcast the news of God’s kingdom and heal the sick. He said, “Don’t load yourselves up with equipment. Keep it simple; you are the equipment.”
Father, detox us from our selves! Draw us unto Yourself through Your own Son and Spirit, focused outwardly with Your strength and resolve; not for our kingdom but for Yours. “All we need to remember is that You will never let us down; You’ll never let us be pushed past our limit; You’ll always be there to help us come through it.” Replace our focus and distractions with seeking Your kingdom and righteousness,” knowing the surety and security of Your provisioning.
