How kind of you to reply, being invited.  It was not a government being overthrown, nor a backroom gathering to discuss a rebellion.  Jesus had ascended, weeks after His resurrection.
A crowd gathered. Peter, the very one who had stated Jesus is the Son of God, Messiah, and! had denied Him three time in the night before His crucifixion, said, “Change your life. Turn to God and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, so your sins are forgiven. Receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Change. Turn. Receive. Forgiven.
Father, who are we that You would be mindful of us, other than Your beloved creation, desiring reunion, Spirit to spirit forever. “Instruct us and show us the way to go; with Your eye on us, give counsel.”

You, me, all, have personally been invited to change, turn, receive, and be forgiven.  “The promise is targeted to you and your children, but also to all who are far away—whomever, in fact, our Master God invites.”  Us and yours.  Peter’s speech begs a response, an R.S.V.P., réspondez s’il vous plait, please respond, regardless of background or generation, as Jesus calls, “Come to Me.”
Acts 2:6, 38-39, Psalm 8:4, Hebrews 2:6, Psalms 32:8, Matthew 11:28 MSG/CSB
